Borathor Max PT's active ingredient is a borate derived from the natural mineral borax. Borates are stomach poisons that control insects by poisoning them when they ingest them. Treat their food with enough of a borate containing compound and you can control almost any type of wood destroying insect and wood decay fungi. That's just what Borathor Max PT does. It is used to treat or load their food, which in this case is structural wood, with a toxic amount of a borate. Load the wood to a sufficient level with a borate and it is highly protected against attack by wood destroying pests.

Borathor Max PT contains as its active ingredient the borate containing compound disodium octoborate tetrahydrate, commonly referred to as DOT. DOT's key attribute is that it is a water soluble borate that dissolves easily in water. This makes it easy to deliver to wood surfaces. DOT is also highly soluble in certain glycols and combinations of glycols and water.
Borathor Max PT is a supersaturated solution of DOT in a glycol formulation. This borate/glycol combination, when mixed with water, creates a powerful termiticide/insecticide/fungicide spray solution that goes to work as soon as it is applied to wood either by surface treatment or injection. Borathor Max PT coats the wood surfaces to which it is applied with a protective layer of DOT. The DOT in Borathor Max PT also penetrates the wood with its depth of final penetration depending on factors such as wood moisture content and wood density. The glycols are intended to enhance the distance into the wood that the DOT penetrates compared to the depth the DOT would penetrate if it was applied only in solution in water.

Borates are inorganic. This means that they will not degrade over time. As long as it is protected from moving moisture such as running water, the borate in BORATHOR MAX PT will remain in place on and inside the treated wood indefinitely, continuing to protect it from insect and fungi attack for as long as it is in service. Borathor Max PT prevents or eliminates infestations of a wide range of wood destroying pests including the following:

No Resistance

Registered for Application to New Construction
Borathor is 98% powdered disodium octaborate tetrahydrate. It is mixed directly with water and sprayed onto wood surfaces. Borathor is registered for the protection of wood against most of the same wood destroying insects and fungi as Borathor Max PT and is registered for use in new and existing construction (however not as a primary subterranean termite protectant in new construction). Borathor is also registered for mildew control.
General Household Pests
Borathor is also registered for control of general insect pests such as cockroaches, silverfish, earwigs, crickets and certain ants.
Borathor can be applied as a water solution, powder or foam.
Borathor Granular Scatter Bait
Effective – Proven effective on a broad spectrum of insects. The active ingredient in Borathor Granular Scatter Bait is boric acid.
Economical – Low use rates of 2 to 4 pounds per 1000 square feet outdoors.
Long lasting – Can last as long as 90 days outdoors.
Quick and easy – Just follow the label directions and apply directly to known sources of infestation. There is no need or requirement to water it in.
